Between material and immaterial spaces.
I exist.
Is space just an illusion to separate me from you?
Words from abstract reality.
Do my avatars belong to me as they belong to you?
The lost sense of time and space.
Floating in the unknown.
Existing in between.
How far do we need to travel to reach one another?...
to dissolve the distance that separates us.
"The Space Between Me and You" is a multichannel sound and video installation exploring the distance between people in an increasingly mediated world. Moving between physical and virtual space, the work questions where we exist in relation to one another—and to our avatars, digital counterparts and fragmented selves. Through layered voices, shifts in pitch and intensity, glitches and recording noise, sound becomes dispersed across space, destabilising the boundaries of individual identity. The voices seem to reach towards one another across an uncertain distance, raising the possibility that these apparently separate entities may also be fragments of the same self.
